Saratov

The Saratovan Federation, or commonly known as Saratov, is a nation located in Northern Brigidna. It borders Southern Severyane,South Eastern Biyra, Eastern Nentsia, and Western Kubaniza.

Etymology

There is no known origin of the name Saratov, though it is believed to be derived from the name Sarativ, the tribe that dominated all of the Saratov mainland, as well as the territories west and south of it.

History

North

Early History

Saratovian-Vostic tribes settled in the South above the lake where there was a vast amount of room for hunting, gathering and farming. The tribes learned to adapt to the harsh winters. The tribes eventually formed Tribal Councils. A notable tribe which were ethnically Sarativ staged a large military campaign against most other tribes of Saratov. The tribes of Kremon and Zusian fell the Sarativ council. After multiple conquests the Sarativ reform into a Tribal Despotism and it establishes borders. Shortly after the Sarativ conquered the rest of the tribes in Saratov it began expanded more into the South, North, West, and East. As a result this forms unfriendly relations with the countries surrounded it but it never leads to war. Around 1790 BCT, the Sarativ Despotism reforms into a Imperial Monarchy calling itself the Saratov Imperium. After it reformed the leadership began to invest more into its economy and infrastructure.

Geography

Saratov consist of mostly flat, arable land. There a few hills and is mostly farmland.

Administrative Divisions

The Saratov Federation consists of 12 administrative divisions. Divisions have their own governance which decide on local policy, and control manage local services such as school districts, and emergency services. Municipal districts have little autonomy and decide on a limited list of local police, and manage trash and recycling services. Municipal districts have representatives in their respective Administrative Division Councils and are elected through popular vote by their residents.

Governance

The Government of Saratov is a Federal Semi-presidential Republic with with separate legislative, executive, and judicial branches.

Political System

The President is elected by popular vote under a ranked instant-runoff voting system for 6-year terms while parliament members are elected under a popular in a first-past-the-post voting system as part of the Seperation of Powers compromise of 1560. The Parliament is responsible for the formation of the executive branch and the government, headed by the Prime Minister, which is agreed upon by Parliament majority. The President nominates candidates for Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Minister of Corruption Prevention. The Prime Minister nominates all other Ministers which are within executive branch separate from the President. Saratov has a large number of political parties, however the majority of them do not achieve eligibility to be represented in Parliament.

Judicial System

The Judicial System has almost complete independence with justices protected from dismissal(except in cases of misconduct). Court Justices can be nominated with joint approval of the President and Prime Minister, or be appointed by Parliament with nominees chosen by the Executives confirmed by Parliament.

Military

During the break up of the United Socialist Republics, Saratov was granted independence in 1528. A transition period was agreed upon, but after being granted independence the USR completely collapses. Saratov was left with a large stockpile of equipment which was used for the new Armed Forces as well as a large naval force which would soon after be mostly sold off. Following independence Saratov maintained a cordial-friendly relationship with Severyane which culminated in a strategic partnership with Severyane in 1568.

The majority of Saratov's energy comes from clean sources such as wind power, solar power, and hydroelectricity. Very few coal and oil power plants remain in Saratov.

The three official languages of Saratov are Saratovan, Lanlian and Sniatiyn.

Education

The Saratov Educational system is managed mostly by Administrative Districts and partially by the Saratovan Government.. Saratov has an illiteracy rate of 12%. High Education is publicly funded by the Government, College/University students pay only for housing and food services, and a reduced tuition.

Health

Saratov uses a Universal Public Health System that is managed by the Saratovan Government. Healthcare in Saratov is considered a human right, however private options do exist to get further coverage that government funded healthcare is not able to provide. Individuals that have high-income have limited access to government healthcare. Most is handled by private insurance.

Visual Arts

Media and Journalism is completely free, journalists and media are free to write about everything, except supporting ethnic hatred. The most used form of media, entertainment, and information is the internet which accounts for 70 percent of Saratovian population. Radio is the second to the internet, with the most popular station being Radio Bukovina. Television is the least popular form of media in Saratov and is slowly dying out, there is only 100-200 stations on television, most Saratovan use streaming services or online for media and entertainment. Advertising is heavily regulated with medicine and cigarette advertisements banned and heavy restrictions are also placed on how an advertisement can present a product.

Video Games

Saratov is home to one of the largest game development scenes in the world, with many globally successful companies. It's scene dates back to the 1520s with arcades being a common sight. Saratov video games are diverse in genre, and video games are viewed as an alternative to film.

Cuisine

Saratovan cuisine is marked by a strong emphasis on fish, meat, and wheat. Pork and fish are the most common meats. Bread is usually served in the form of a sandwich or served plain as a side.

Sports

Saratov has invested in many athletic facilities including stadia, gymnasia, swimming pools, soccer fields, and many other facilities. Football is a massive sport in Saratov with most children upon the 1st grade getting involved in Football. Second to Football is gymnastics and hockey.
