Hélène (Hélène Jacqueline Montelais) is the reigning Queen of Valaranthine.

Hélène succeeded to the throne on 22 Quartyr 1558 when both her parents, the reigning King Maxime II and his wife, Queen-Consort Jacqueline, died in a vehicle accident. Hélène's 8 year reign has been characterized by sweeping social reforms and vast increases in social welfare, education and public healthcare spending. Culturally, Hélène's reign has overseen a new dawn in Valaranthinean culture, and her extensive patronage in the arts has contributed considerably to the recent Valaranthinean cultural renewal.

Hélène's rule has also brought considerable criticism. While some critics have praised her efforts to greatly increase social liberties, others have noted that Hélène has ignored, if not repressed, all political freedom movements. Hélène has also been accused of depleting the national treasury through frivolous spending and liberal government budgets. Hélène's private life has also come under fire, particularly from the mainstream media, who have reported extensively on Hélène's scandalous and intimate lifestyle.
