The House of Meneris or more commonly House Meneris is the House of the Imperial Family of the Imperium. The Meneris family can trace their lineage back to the ancient Galasian Empire more than two thousand years ago. The family's origins are often shrouded in mystery and speculation, but records do exist linking the Meneris to Galasian Prince Kolin Marius. House Meneris is designated as the Imperial family of the Mestran Imperium and is thus only applied to direct members of the Imperial household. Some branches of the Imperial family exist in other countries, such as the Gallian royal family who also bear the name Meneris. According to most accounts House Meneris has ruled the Mestran people for over 1500 years.

History

Imperial and Royal Families

Mestran nobility is functionally different in comparison to most countries in regards to the divisions of the ruling family. Within the dominion of the Imperium, the ruling family is divided amongst the Imperial Family and secondary Royal Families. The line between the Royal Families and the rest of the nobility class is often blurred. However, there does exist a striking contrast between the aristocracy and the Imperial Family.

Imperial Family

The Imperial Family is designated as the immediate relatives of the monarch. Under these considerations the Imperial Family consists of the Emperor, his/her spouse, surviving parents, siblings and children. It is often the case that unwed siblings are retained within the Imperial Family, while female siblings who marry another foreign head of state relinquish any claim to the Imperial Family. Upon the birth of an heir, siblings of the Emperor are granted new titles and become members of the Royal Families.

Royal Families

Royal Families within the Imperium are related to the Imperial Family but are not in the direct line of succession. Often stylized by their home house names, Royal Families also bear the formal ved Menra following the name of the royal house. One of the most prominent Royal Families is the House of Halva which is formally stylized as Halva ved Menra. The title of Menra is modification of the Imperial family of Meneris, and a symbolic symbol of the royal houses connection to the Imperial Family.
