Geography

Government and politics

Foreign relations and military

As a slave state, Ishnalla has few international friends. This has consequently led to it fielding a large standing army, composed of five branches: the Ishnalli Imperial Army, the Ishnalli Imperial Air Force, the Ishnalli Imperial Navy, the Ishnalli Home Guard, and the Haniju Army. The Haniju Army is the emperor's private slave army.

Economy

Slavery

Slavery is most in the countryside, where they are used to man the fields that feed the cities. City slaves are also not uncommon, where they tend to serve as household staff or servants. Many slaves are also employed by the government. The Haniju people make up the bulk of the slave population.

They have been considered sub-human (and therefore, legitimate property) since well before their kingdom was conquered in 900 BCE. In the short aftermath, many Haniju were enslaved and taken back to Koryan to work the fields and mines. Over the centuries, their situation has improved moderately, though they are still far from equal to the Koryani people. Still, they have received some moderate protections.

Slaves can no longer be killed without cause, and must be reasonably fed and sheltered. They must be given at minimum two hours of rest through the day, and may not be worked overnight. They must also be provided basic medical care when sick. However, these few concessions aside, they are still considered property that may be bought and sold at will. There are no limits to what kind of work they may be assigned and they are not entitled to education {{{1}}} though they may be educated if the owner so wishes.

Slavery is ingrained heavily into both Koryani and Haniju society. Slave revolts are largely a thing of the past. Countless generations of life in service have pacified the Haniju. This may be as farm slaves have a largely codependent relationship with their owners {{{1}}} without slaves, the owners wouldn't produce enough food to eat and sell, while the slaves believe that, without the owners, they wouldn't survive. City slaves are largely given basic respect. The Haniju who live in their ancestral territory, while nominally government property, are largely left alone.
