Template:Infobox military The People's Army of Zargistan is the armed forces of the People's State of Zargistan. The People's Army consists of the People's Army of Zargistan Ground Forces, the People's Army of Zargistan Naval Forces, the People's Army of Zargistan Air Forces, and the Republican Guard.

Structure

The People's Army answers to the Grand Marshal, who is the commander-in-chief. There has only been one Grand Marshal since the office's creation: Abjul Takmir. Takmir was also the President of Zargistan, when Majeed Kakar ascended to that office after winning a controversial national election.

The military is simultaneously administered by the Ministry of Defense.

History

The Armed Forces of Zargistan was the name of the Zargistani military during the monarchy, which was ended in the 1554 Marth Revolution. The civilian government of the short-lived Republic of Zargistan had only nominal control over the military, as the provisional president, Abjul Takmir, in addition to several other high-ranking provisional government officials, were also a military officers. Commanding officers governed their units virtually independently, bound only by personal loyalty.

This chaotic state was ended quite abruptly by the seizure of power of Abjul Takmir, who declared himself to be President of the People's State and Grand Marshal of the Zargistani military, which he reorganized as the People's Army.
