Template:Culture of the Holy Lanlanian Empire

The culture of the Holy Lanlanian Empire is predominantly Geinic, though influenced strongly by Azreaen, Rylmarker, and Syoridan cultures. In fact, it can be argued that there is no single "Holy Lanlanian culture". Instead, the culture of the Holy Lanlanian Empire is divided into four separate sub-cultures{{{1}}}those of Azreae, Lanlania, Rylmark, and Syorid. The culture of the empire as a whole can be described as the result of the intermixing and evolution of the cultures of those four countries. The chief influence would be from the Lanlanians, which incorporated elements of the various cultures they conquered over the centuries.

Holy Lanlanian literature, music, cinema, art, theater, comedy, media, television, philosophy, and architecture and influential and respected across the world. The Holy Lanlanian Empire is also prominent in science and technology. Sport plays an important part of Holy Lanlanian culture. The HLE can be described as a "cultural superpower", and Halvadag has is considered a world culture capital.

The Holy Lanlanian Empire was one of the more successful colonial powers, resulting in significant Holy Lanlanian cultural and institutional influence across the globe, especially Skathia and northern #INO.

Sociological issues

Family structure

The current Lanlanian family is composed of five persons: a father, mother, and three kids, each commonly four-seven years apart. It is becoming more and more common for grandparents{{{1}}}or at least a widowed one{{{1}}}to live in the same household. This has been attributed to their longer lifespans and rising cost of living, which make it difficult for the empire to adequately support them with pensions. Similarly, conditions have caused a two-income earner situations in most families.

Single-parent households have also increased in number the last two decades. As these are more economically vulnerable, the government does provide financial assistance.

Pets

Pets are common among all family types. The most popular are: fish, with over 90 million across the empire; cats and dogs, at nearly 25 million each; and birds and rabbits, at 4 million.

Popular indigenous dog breeds include: Patreel.

Housing

Housing differs greatly between the four countries of the empire.

Lanlania

With a high population density, Lanlanian housing has become closely-packed compared to other countries. Terrace housing is common across the country, especially in urban areas. Larger, more distributed homes are more common as the population thins heading out of the cities.

Drugs and alcohol

Drugs and alcohol are viewed less unfavorably than in most Western countries.

Alcohol

Alcohol in particular is considered a strong part of Lanlanian culture. It is consumed by the whole family at dinner, either as a cooking ingredient or as a drink, usually wine or ale. Mead is especially popular in Azreae. Whiskey and Rum are popular among recreational drinks. Vodka has been gaining popularity in recent decades.

As its a part of Lanlanian culture, children are not outright banned from drinking. Even in public, they are allowed to consume it with a parent's permission. Sixteen is the minimum age required to purchase it with a meal without parent supervision, while eighteen is the general purchase age.

Alcohol sales are largely unrestricted, aside from ID-checks to verify age.

Drugs

Most drugs are not criminalized. Cannabis especially has been legal since the Lanlanians first came across it in Azreae. It is available for recreational and medical purposes at age eighteen.
